Find Out If Your Family Has a Case

Free, confidential review by Attorney Matthew T. Marin. Answered by you, the parent or guardian. Prefer to talk? Call (888) 348-2735.
Nobody can tell you today what the Roblox lawsuit will pay per person, because no settlement program exists in MDL 3166 and no bellwether trial has produced a verdict. The Roblox settlements in the news are with state attorneys general and do not pay individual families. What can be explained honestly is how per-person payouts are built in mass-tort litigation, so that when numbers appear you can read them and recognize a lawyer who is guessing.
As of August 31, 2026: 228 cases filed in the Northern District of California, 9 filed in the last 30 days. See the member-case ledger on the MDL 3166 tracker.

Is there a Roblox settlement for families yet?
No. Several states have settled their own enforcement actions with Roblox; those agreements change platform practices and pay the states, not the children who were harmed. See Roblox state settlements and settlement amounts for what has actually been resolved. Any website quoting an “average Roblox settlement” for families is describing something that does not exist yet.
How per-person payouts are usually structured
When a mass-tort settlement is reached it is almost never one amount split evenly. The usual structure is a matrix: tiers set base amounts by the severity of what happened, and points adjust each claim for factors such as the child’s age, the duration of the contact, whether exploitation or an in-person meeting occurred, documented treatment, and the strength of the evidence. Cases involving the most serious harm sit at the top of any such matrix.
What moves an individual claim up or down
- What happened: grooming, sexual exploitation, extortion, an in-person meeting, self-harm or hospitalization.
- Evidence quality: chat exports, account data, police reports, treatment records; see how evidence preservation works.
- Treatment burden: counseling, psychiatric care, ongoing needs.
- Which platforms are named: Roblox alone, or Roblox with Discord or Snapchat.
- Timing: claims filed inside the deadline carry full weight.
What is deducted before the family is paid
From a gross award, the contingency fee, the case expenses set out in the engagement agreement, and any medical or insurance liens are paid before the net amount is received. Awards to minors are typically approved by the court and may be placed in a protected account until the child is an adult; your lawyer explains how that works in your state.
Bellwether verdicts vs. settlement per person
A bellwether verdict is one jury’s decision in one test case; it is not what everyone receives. Verdicts set negotiating ranges: if early trials favor families, the defendants usually negotiate a program with the tier structure above; if not, values fall or cases are returned to their home courts. The what’s next in MDL 3166 page tracks that schedule.
How to protect your family’s place in a future payout
Preserve the evidence, file inside the deadline, and do not accept an early individual offer without counsel. Do I qualify? covers eligibility; what a Roblox lawyer does covers the process.
