This policy covers the pages on this site concerning the Diocese of Providence’s List of Credibly Accused Clergy, the Rhode Island Attorney General’s 2026 report on the Diocese, and Rhode Island’s childhood sexual abuse revival window.

These pages name real people and quote official government and church records. We hold them to a strict sourcing standard, and we correct errors quickly and visibly. This page explains how.

Our sourcing standard

Accusation-related statements on these pages come from only two sources: the Diocese of Providence’s published List of Credibly Accused Clergy (including its individual clergy records) and the Rhode Island Attorney General’s March 4, 2026 report on the Diocese, including its Appendix A. Statuses are quoted verbatim as published. Where the two official sources disagree — dates, spellings, status descriptions — we state both, with attribution, rather than choosing between them. Criminal outcomes (convictions, acquittals, charges that ended without a verdict) are stated only as the official record reflects them, with a citation to the specific page of the source document. Each page carries the date its sources were last verified.

The sources change

The Diocese describes its list as a working document, and entries can change without notice. We re-verify these pages against both sources on a recurring schedule, and each page states the date of its most recent verification. If a source changes, we update the affected page and date-stamp the update.

How to request a correction

If you believe anything on these pages is inaccurate — a date, an assignment, a status, a quotation, or anything else — contact us and tell us the page, the statement at issue, and, if you have it, the basis for the correction:

Or use our contact page and mark your message “Correction request.”

What we commit to

We will review every correction request within 48 hours of receiving it. If a statement is wrong, we will correct it and add a visible, dated correction note to the page. If a statement is accurate but disputed between the official sources, we will state both sources’ versions with attribution. If we cannot resolve a request within 48 hours, we will say so and tell the requester what we are doing to resolve it. We keep an internal log of every substantive change to a published claim, with the date and reason.

A note on the presumption of innocence

As the Attorney General’s report itself states, unless otherwise noted, the details in its Appendix A are allegations — not facts proven in a courtroom or admitted by the accused — and the individuals named are generally entitled to a presumption of innocence. Our pages repeat that caveat wherever those records are discussed, and they state explicitly when a person was never charged, was acquitted, or died before a case was resolved.

This policy governs the credibly accused database and its published verification methodology, which support our Rhode Island clergy abuse resources.
