Just For Me for years? You were told the risk was scalp burns.

Strength of Nature is a named defendant in the federal litigation. One question tells you where you stand.

Active litigation — no settlement. MDL 3060 underway · 12,381 cases pending · filing deadlines vary by state and run from when you knew or should have known.

Did you get relaxers — perms, the white cream — every few weeks, for years?

That one question decides most of it. It seems like nobody ever told you the risk was anything worse than a scalp burn.

Just For Me is a children’s chemical relaxer made by Strength of Nature, a Godrej company, which is a named defendant in the federal hair relaxer litigation, MDL 3060, in Chicago. The complaints allege the makers did not warn about chemicals they associate with cancer.

One question decides most of it.

Did you get relaxers — perms, the white cream — at least four times a year for two years or more? Roughly is fine.

Lawsuits consolidated in federal court in Chicago (MDL 3060) allege that long-term use of chemical hair relaxers is associated with uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, and related conditions. As of October 2026 the cases are in pretrial proceedings; no trial has been held and no settlement has been announced. The allegations have not been proven, and each case depends on its own facts.

A page about a children’s product is an easy place to lay on pressure. This one will not: no settlement figure, no promise, and no suggestion that anyone did anything wrong except, allegedly, the manufacturer.

What Just For Me is

Just For Me is a no-lye relaxer kit sold for children — a smaller, sweeter-smelling version of an adult chemical straightener, with a girl on the box. That fact sets it apart in the chemical hair relaxer lawsuits.

It started before you could consent. If the white cream first went on at five, or seven, or nine, you did not choose the product, read the label, or weigh a risk nobody disclosed — and neither did the grown-up who bought it, because the box disclosed none. The product was formulated for children and sold on that basis. What a manufacturer knew and did not print is the question this litigation asks. It is not a question about your mother, and no claim here is made against her.

Who makes Just For Me

Strength of Nature, LLC and Strength of Nature Global, LLC — a Godrej company since Godrej Consumer Products acquired the business in April 2016. Godrej SON Holdings also appears in the filings. The portfolio includes African Pride, Motions, Soft & Beautiful and TCB Naturals.

Is Strength of Nature a named defendant?

Yes, and prominently. Strength of Nature, LLC, Strength of Nature Global, LLC and Godrej SON Holdings appear on the first-wave defendant roster (Dkt. 289) and in joint-defense briefing (Dkt. 1901) in MDL 3060. Godrej SON and Strength of Nature filed the defendants’ combined motion to exclude the plaintiffs’ general-causation experts (Dkt. 1828, May 5, 2026) — briefed June 16, 2026, still undecided.

In October 2025 the Georgia Supreme Court held, in relaxer appeals against Strength of Nature Global and L’Oréal USA, that Georgia’s ten-year statute of repose runs per unit sold, not from the first sale in a series (Burroughs, Nos. S24G1387, S24G1388).

What the complaints allege about this brand

The master long form complaint (Dkt. 106) and the short form complaint adopted by CMO 7 (Dkt. 175) plead one theory against every relaxer maker: that the products contained phthalates and other endocrine-disrupting chemicals, that the makers knew or should have known, and that the labels did not disclose it. Childhood-onset use matters here not because a different chemical was involved, but because it lengthens the exposure window the screen measures.

No order and no published study reports a disease risk figure for Just For Me, or any single brand. Brand matters for identification — which makers sold what you used.

What the research says

Testing of eighteen hair products marketed to Black women detected 45 of 66 targeted endocrine-disrupting chemicals; 84 percent of those detected were not on the label. That same testing found relaxers marketed at children carried the highest levels of five chemicals prohibited in the EU or regulated under Proposition 65 (Environmental Research, 2018).

Study findings and adverse-event reports describe associations; they are not verified causation.

Do you meet the screen?

  • Used a chemical hair relaxer at least four times a year for at least two years. Childhood years count. Every brand counts.
  • A diagnosis of uterine, ovarian, or endometrial cancer — the three core injuries the trial track runs on (Dkt. 946; Dkt. 1944).
  • Records establishing the diagnosis and the timeline.
  • Whether you qualify is decided on your own facts, not by a webpage.

Fibroids and endometriosis claims sit outside the current federal trial track. That is the shape of the litigation, not a verdict on anyone’s case: they have not been dismissed as a category, and they are worked up and evaluated separately.

Whichever of those describes you, the rest is a conversation. Two minutes to start, and no homework — no receipts, no box, no brand list, no doctor’s letter. Deadlines are set state by state and generally run from when you knew or should have known; that is a fact to check, not a reason to hurry. You get an answer either way.

Frequently Asked Questions

My daughter used Just For Me as a child. Can a claim be brought for her?

The screen is the same at any age of first use: four or more times a year for at least two years, plus a qualifying diagnosis. Who brings the claim depends on her age now.

I used it as a kid and stopped in my teens. Is that enough use?

Possibly. Two years at four or more applications a year is the threshold, and childhood use counts. Stopping decades ago does not by itself disqualify anyone.

Is this the same as suing over adult relaxers?

Same litigation, same maker. The children’s product is not carved out; it is one of the products named on the short form complaint.

Has anyone been paid?

No hair relaxer settlement has been announced and no one has been paid. Any page that quotes a dollar figure is estimating. What decides a claim is the diagnosis, the use history and the state’s law — not a range on a webpage.

What does a review cost?

Nothing up front. It is a free, confidential consultation, and there is no fee unless there is a recovery. Some matters may be referred to or handled with other law firms. The attorney’s fee is a percentage of the gross recovery, calculated before case expenses are deducted. Case expenses are advanced by the firm and reimbursed to the firm out of the recovery only if there is a recovery.
